Wisteria sinensis Prolific is a hardy flowering shrub Will produce beautiful scented pendants of lilac-blue flowers during May - June Loved by pollinating insects - especially bees and butterflies Wisteria sinensis is a little less vigorous than other wisteria species reaching a mature height of 9m The ideal specimen plant for training onto sunny walls and fences Supplied as a pot grown plant in a 9cm pot Awards RHS AGM At maturity expected height: 9m (28 ) spread: 5m (16 ) How to grow: Grow wisteria plants in a sunny or semi shaded site in any moist well-drained soil. Wisteria flower buds can be damaged by hard spring frosts so choose a sheltered position. Prior to planting add plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost to the soil. Provide the twining stems with an appropriate and sturdy support such as strong trellis or wires attached to walls and pergolas. Culinary note: The flowers are the only edible part of the plant and can be made into an aromatic wine. Their flavour is perfumed. Caution: All other parts of wisteria are poisonous. Refunds
